A grand day out

It’s half term.

And it’s Friday.

We took pity on poor Christopher and let him take the car to work instead of making him do the 90 mile round trip on his trusty motorbike in the cold. He’s not as young as he was and the chill gets to his bones. Poor ole chap.

SO, the nippers and I decided to take the train(s) to Exeter, go to the museum, meet up with the boy and all come back in the car.

We’re pretty lucky in that our village has a train station that is at the end of a train line that is regularly voted one of the most beautiful in Europe (and not just by locals). Not  that I got to see much of it as the nippers were on form today (and how!) so mostly I was in charge of running containment. (Poohster at one point offered to share his chocolate with EVERY PERSON in the train carriage. I love him)

We finally got to the RAMM (Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery) which recently (last month) opened after a multi-million refit. And WOW. Seriously. WOW. Now I know I need to be forcibly dragged out of museums (because I’m that sad) but I hadn’t anticipated having this particular battle with the nippers quite this young.

Oh, and then, *ahem*, I FELL into L’Occitane and I must have hit my head or something *cough cough* because not 10 minutes later I found myself in the street with some oh-so-lovely perfume. And some other stuff.  And a whole heap o freebies (score!). IN A PRETTY BOX. (Who’s a sucker for pretty boxes – that’s right! ME!) I think the girls in the shop were rather charmed by the nippers. Either that or I look so bloody knackered I triggered a need to help-the-poor-bedraggled-bag-lady thing. (Take this. You NEED it…)

Sophie - Whilst I’m not generally a fan of dead animals on display, I do love these photos! Especially the elephant peering under the giraffe. And the live Nipper-type animals ;)
