Hannah and Simon’s Larmer Tree wedding

“If my love were an ocean, there would be no more land.

If my love were a desert, you would see only sand.
If my love were a star- late at night, only light.
And if my love could grow wings, I’d be soaring in flight.”  Jay Asher

Today’s wedding adventure takes us up off across the country to The Larmer Tree just outside Salisbury. After morning preps at The King John Inn in Tollard Royal (strong contender here for the best village name ever. Just so ridiculously and fantastically English), a wonderful wedding ceremony outside THE ROMAN TEMPLE surrounded by peacocks, loved ones and wisely stashed brollies in event of rain.

The weather gods were kinder than anticipated (I’ll let you know if I hear back from the wedding gods (below) but, frankly, I’m not holding my breath. It’s wedding season and they’ll be mightily busy flitting around the joint on their rainbow unicorns and dusting us all with sprinkles) and so instead of the predicted downpour we had light mistings of drizzle.

Hannah and Simons big I Do was a deliciously low-key affair. Beautifully executed, deliciously understated and oh-so perfect. The gardens themselves are just lovely and reminded me wonderfully of the Boboli Gardens in Florence with its quiet avenues of tree leading to statues or secluded nook-like glens or grottos. And the sundown floating candles on the lake in the Italian Garden – the stuff of dreams and movies

…’Dear Wedding Gods. Please arrange it so that most, if not ALL, of my weddings feature Roman temples and floating flower candles (*FYI this is not an exhaustive wish-list) . Much appreciated. Lucy xxx (ps – I’m a huge fan of your work – send more sprinkles and not the grey hair you’ve been chucking at my head recently. Not cool, WGs.
